The historical musical that nearly swept everyone off their feet in multiple ways is facing some new changes as some of the main “Hamilton” stars being to move on.

The innovative show chronicles the journey of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, who rises from a meager beginning to become a substantial political leader.

The groundbreaking musical won 11 Tony Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, and a Grammy.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the book, lyrics, and music, broke a number of Broadway stereotypes with his use of R&B and hip-hop music, as well as an intentional inclusion of ethnically diverse actors.

As of July 9, however, many of the original stars in the widely acclaimed musical have taken their last bow.

Leslie Odom Jr. — Aaron Burr
Leslie Odom Jr., who played Hamilton’s arch-enemy and killer Aaron Burr, has decided to move on to explore a career in jazz.  He released a debut album in June and his November show is already sold out, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

After winning a Tony Award for best leading actor, Odom, 34, knows it was “crazy” to walk away from “Hamilton,” but he knew he had to take the risk. “It’s exciting and fresh, like a new frontier,” he told the San Francisco Chronicle.

The character of Burr will now be played by understudies Andrew Chappelle, Sydney James Harcourt, and Austin Smith through mid-August, according to Broadway.com. Actor Brandon Victor Dixon will eventually take on the role.

Lin-Manuel Miranda – Alexander Hamilton
The mastermind and creator himself, Lin-Manuel Miranda, also exited the stage on July 9 and will be continuing his career with multiple upcoming projects. One of these projects will be his performance in the Disney sequel to “Mary Poppins.”

Also in the world of Disney, Miranda has been composing music for the upcoming movie, “Moana.”

On a more comical note, Miranda, 36, will also be featured in the next season of the show “Drunk History,” in which he will recite some of the history behind Hamilton that wasn’t included in the show — while incredibly drunk, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Miranda has said he wouldn’t be opposed to revisiting his role as Hamilton in future productions. In the meantime, his character of Alexander Hamilton will now be played by Javier Muñoz.

Phillipa Soo — Eliza
Phillips Soo, 26, also exited the show, leaving her role as Eliza Hamilton. Soo will be moving on to play the title role in “Amélie,” adapted from the 2001 French film starring Audrey Tautou, according to The New York Times. She is also rumored to be joining Miranda with a voice role in the animated musical, “Moana,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The character of Eliza Hamilton is now being played by Lexi Lawson, according to Broadway.com.

Daveed Diggs — Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson
David Diggs, 34, left the show on July 15 to play an English teacher in the new film, “Wonder,” set for release in April 2017. He was replaced by Chris Lee. He has also been confirmed to play the character of Johan, the brother of Tracee Ellis Ross’ character Bow in the third season of “Black-ish,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Diggs isn’t stopping there — he will also appear in a new Netflix drama, “The Get Down,” coming next month, as well as co-star in an HBO mockumentary about Lance Armstrong called, “Tour de Pharmacy,” THR announced.

Renée Elise Goldsberry — Angelica Schuyler
Renée Goldsberry, 45, will be departing soon. Goldsberry is set to feature in Netflix’s “Altered Carbon,” a sci-fi drama about a digitized human mind and transferable human souls, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will play the part of Quellcrist Falconer, a rebellion leader.

Additionally, Goldsberry will be playing the lead character in an HBO film, “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” based on the book by Rebecca Skloot, according to A.V. Club.

Although much of the original cast of “Hamilton” is moving on to other sets and screens, the show will still be going strong and continues to be nearly sold out at the box office, grossing more than $92 million since opening last August.
