On This Day… September 8, 1932

Patsy Cline, country music singer and pianist, was born in Winchester, Virginia. She launched her career in 1957 with her performance of “Walkin’ After Midnight” on the "Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts” TV show. She died tragically in a plane crash at the age of 30, but her legend lives on. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1973 as the first female solo artist in country music history.
