Annie Edson Taylor, 63, took the first successful plunge over Niagara Falls in a barrel — 70 years after Sam Patch survived the 175-foot drop of the Horseshoe Falls, part of the Niagara River. Going over the Niagara Falls is now illegal, and survivors face charges.
