Actress Julia Roberts has been named the “World’s Most Beautiful Woman” for a record fifth time by People magazine.

Roberts, 49, told the magazine she feels she’s currently “peaking.” She was only 23 years old when she first graced the cover of the same magazine as the “World’s Most Beautiful Woman” back in 1991.

“It’s been 26 years since Julia Roberts was first on the cover of People’s World’s Most Beautiful issue, and she’s still our favorite pretty woman,” wrote the magazine when introducing its unsurprising pick.

What’s mind-boggling about the pick is that Roberts is far from the A-list star on everyone’s mind that she once was when she was headlining hit movies such as “Pretty Woman” and “Erin Brockovich.”

Roberts has more recently starred in movies that few have bothered to see — excluding those people who work in the media and the entertainment industry. There was last year’s “Money Monster,” which barely made $40 million; “Mother’s Day,” which made just over $30 million; and now she has voice work in a new “Smurfs” film that few people probably even know is in theaters right now.

Roberts is no doubt a stunningly beautiful woman. Yet this “achievement” of being named “World’s Most Beautiful Woman” for five times either boils down to a lack of effort in the entertainment media, or a simple desire to not evolve and provide interesting insight to readers — readers who are growing more and more alienated from mainstream media, even entertainment media, by the day.
