Hollywood heroism can exist off the big screen. Celebrities have on occasion put themselves in harm’s way to save a stranger — and this week Jamie Foxx became the latest.

Foxx rescued a suspected drunk driver from his burning vehicle outside his home in Hidden Valley, California. The actor told CBS Los Angeles, “I don’t look at it as heroic. I just look at it as, you know, you just had to do something. And it all worked out.”

With the help of a passing EMT, the two were able to get the man out of his truck and pull him to safety.

Many people don’t expect much in the way of good deeds from notoriously self-centered celebs, but they are people, too, and can do good when the situation calls for action or a real-life rescue mission.
