Don’t even think about reaching for a pint of Cherry Garcia, Chunky Monkey, Chubby Hubby, or Half Baked.

Why? Here’s the scoop: You likely know this already, but if you do buy some Ben & Jerry’s ice cream — you’re supporting one of the most liberal companies in the country.

Last week, the Vermonters declared their support for Black Lives Matter by posting a giant BLM logo on the company’s Facebook page and website, saying, “Choosing to be silent in the face of such injustice is not an option.”

The statement goes on to directly target police: “It’s been hard to watch the list of unarmed Black Americans killed by law enforcement officers grow longer and longer. We understand that numerous Black Americans and white Americans have profoundly different experiences and outcomes with law enforcement and the criminal justice system. That’s why it’s become clear to us at Ben & Jerry’s that we have a moral obligation to take a stand now for justice and for Black lives.”

In response, Blue Lives Matter is calling on all Americans to boycott all Ben & Jerry’s products and send a message to the company.

Blue Lives Matter fired back, saying Ben & Jerry’s has gone too far in accusing law enforcement of “widespread racism.” And that talk like this is only putting officers in danger.

“By spreading these false and misleading statements, Ben & Jerry’s lends an appearance of legitimacy to the baseless claims that police officers are killing men based on the color of their skin. This message has inspired the assassination and attempted assassination of police officers, and it costs officers their lives.”

The police-supporting organization published news of its boycott to Facebook, where the post has been shared more than 31,000 times — so far.

Add this latest Ben & Jerry’s move to other political stances the company has taken over the years, mostly in the form of renaming its ice cream flavors.

In May, in a protest against North Carolina’s voter ID laws, Ben & Jerry’s created a new ice cream flavor: “Empower Mint.”

Last year, the company temporarily changed the name of its chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream to “I dough, I dough” after the Supreme Court’s national legalization of same-sex marriage.

When he heard of the latest Ben & Jerry’s move on behalf of Black Lives Matter, a New York dad and veteran told LifeZette, “I will never buy another pint of their ice cream again. Ever.”
