New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration is ramping up its effort to pander to Muslims at taxpayer expense.

His administration has launched an initiative designed to combat alleged anti-Muslim xenophobia and hate.

His administration would rather push the false narrative that Muslims live under constant danger from racist American than face the reality that Americans live under constant threat from radical Muslims.

“Xenophobic rhetoric has reached a fever pitch in recent months. Across the country, Muslim, immigrant, and refugee communities have become targets for hateful speech and even hateful acts,” wrote New York City officials Carmelyn P. Malalis, Nisha Agarwal, and Marco A. Carrión, touting the new initiatives in The Huffington Post.

His administration would rather push the false narrative that Muslims live under constant danger from racist Americans than face the reality that Americans live under the real threat of danger from radical Muslims.

The “IAmMuslimNYC” campaign included “public safety events, a social media ad campaign supporting Muslim New Yorkers, distribution of educational anti-discrimination materials, and workshops to increase cultural awareness and combat xenophobic rhetoric.”

The city has not released the price tag for this initiative, but it’s likely to cost taxpayers millions. In addition to the initiatives listed above, the campaign includes the publication of fact sheets and brochures (in 9 languages), and a citywide media campaign in 2017 focused “on combating xenophobia and embracing religious diversity in New York City.”

Consider for a moment the utter perversity of a New York City mayor using taxpayers’ money — in part collected from 9/11 survivors and 9/11 victim’s families — to pay for a public relations campaign designed in part to whitewash the threat of Islamic terror.

“In New York City, we do not and will not accept hatred, violence, or discrimination of any kind,” reads the HuffPo piece. “Now more than ever, we stand united as one City and reject hate and fear in all its forms.”

Were the de Blasio administration serious about rejecting hatred and violence, it wouldn’t be so quick to obfuscate the dangerous aspects of Islamic culture, which often encourages hatred of non-believers and tolerates violence towards them — and women, for that matter.

“To the Muslim, immigrant, and refugee communities living in every borough of this great city — we see you, we affirm your dignity, and we will not allow you, your families, or your communities to be harmed or targeted in any way,” Malalis, Agarwal, and Carrión write.

De Blasio will however allow American families and communities to be harmed and targeted — he crippled the NYPD’s  efforts to monitor Muslim communities for radicalization, not to mention its successful proactive policing policies in general.

The measures, while surely influenced by the de Blasio and company’s politically correct progressive pathology, may also be a more cynical ploy to shore up support from New York’s Muslim population ahead of the 2017 mayoral elections.

In 2013, only 691,801 New Yorkers voted in the Democratic mayoral primary. De Blasio won with over 282,000 of those votes. In 2017, however, de Blasio is likely to face challenges from a number of Democrats amid increasing frustration over his broken promises, personal crusade against charter schools, and the background of a federal investigation into election fraud. Reports on Friday indicate De Blasio has hired consultants who captained Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid to chart his path to re-election.

Mobilizing even a fraction of the city’s roughly 500,000 Muslims could provide de Blasio the support he needs to retain his position in office.
