Joe Scarborough has descended to new depths in his personal propaganda war against President Donald Trump.

The “Morning Joe” co-host made a number of staggering assertions Friday morning.

Scarborough said that his “greatest takeaway” from Trump’s performance at this week’s NATO summit “was that he’s very comfortable around strong men, around autocrats. And people who were democratically elected make him very, very nervous.”

“He respects autocrats, he respects leaders that are able to cut people’s heads off if they protest. He respects leaders that are able to shoot journalists. He’s very uncomfortable around Democratic leaders, and it was very clear yesterday.”

“He respects authoritarians. It’s very obvious,” Scarborough claimed before launching astonishing accusations against the sitting president.

“He respects autocrats, he respects leaders that are able to cut people’s heads off if they protest. He respects leaders that are able to shoot journalists. He’s very uncomfortable around Democratic leaders, and it was very clear yesterday, very uncomfortable around people that run democratic countries,” Scarborough said.

Scarborough and his guests appeared to base their entire analysis on a comparison between a few photos of Trump at the NATO summit and a few photos of Trump in Saudi Arabia and in the White House with Russian diplomats.

But there are far more likely explanations for the apparent difference in Trump’s demeanor than his respecting “leaders that are able to cut people’s heads off … [and] shoot journalists,” as Scarborough suggested.

For one thing, the photo of Trump in Saudi Arabia produced by “Morning Joe” was of Trump at the sword ceremony held in his honor. One would be hard-pressed to be exposed to such a spectacle and not smile — especially compared to a stiff, bureaucratic photo-op in Brussels.

Of course, who could ignore the history of hostility between Trump and the leaders of the European Union, both of whom routinely attacked each other throughout the presidential campaign? Apparently “Morning Joe” can.

Rather than examine seriously why Trump may have not been a face full of smiles at his first NATO summit, Scarborough and panel guest Donny Deutsch asserted that Trump’s allegedly sour demeanor could mean only one thing: He is a Russian agent.

“There’s only one explanation for all of this … that his ally, that his brethren that his cake is being buttered somehow with the Russians [sic],” said Deutsch.

While Scarborough admitted there was no conclusive evidence of any actual collusion between Trump and Russia, he claimed nevertheless that “everything that happened yesterday … feeds into the suspicion that there is or that Putin has something on Donald Trump.”

“It seems the only ally Donald Trump is interested in outside of Saudi Arabia is Russia.”

But if Trump were so interested in being Russia’s ally, why would he agree to the biggest U.S. arms deal in history with Saudi Arabia, the mortal enemy of Iran — Russia’s No. 1 ally in the region?

If Trump were so interested in being Russia’s ally, why would he address NATO, an organization that Russia considers to be an aggressive, existential threat to its security? Indeed, Trump even referenced Russia directly in his speech.

“The NATO of the future must include a great focus on terrorism and immigration, as well as threats from Russia and on NATO’s eastern and southern borders,” said Trump.
