Since Trump’s inauguration, Zucker and CNN face a continued barrage of “fake news” allegations from Trump and his supporters decrying the network’s revamped, Russia-focused coverage as the controversy over the network’s primary and general election coverage fades to the background.

“Wow, CNN had to retract big story on ‘Russia,’ with 3 employees forced to resign. What about all the other phony stories they do? FAKE NEWS!” Trump tweeted Tuesday.”

To top that off, Trump retweeted a photoshopped image of CNN’s logo: FNN, or Fake News Network.

Conservative activist group Project Veritas released a secretly recorded video Tuesday appearing to show CNN producer John Bonifield discussing Zucker’s directions regarding Russia collusion coverage. Bonifield could be heard saying that CNN covers Russia so much “because it’s ratings.”

“Just to give you some context, President Trump pulled out of the climate accords and for a day and a half we covered the climate accords. And the CEO of CNN said in our internal meeting, he said good job everybody covering the climate accords, but we’re done with that, let’s get back to Russia,” Bonifield said, adding that “we don’t have any big giant proof” of wrongdoing from the president or his officials.[lz_pagination]
