Hillary Clinton is running on the platform that she will be the first female president of the United States, but she actually wants to put her hubby and former president Bill Clinton in charge of the economy if she’s elected. Didn’t Bill already serve two terms as president? Why would Americans elect Hillary to give him a potential third?

Hillary told supporters at a campaign event on Sunday that her husband would play a role in her administration — specifically revitalizing the economy. “Because, you know, he knows how to do it … especially in places like coal country and inner cities,” Hillary said. However, on Monday she said Bill would not be a cabinet member, leading some to question just what he would do, since there are plenty of appointed cabinet members — vetted by Congress — who are in charge of economic issues.

Hillary is all about girl power and yet she would put a man in charge of one of the most pressing issues facing the country, one that the president should take a lead role on. Is she all but admitting that she cannot handle the economy without a man’s help? She’s essentially implying he will be the next president if she wins — or maybe she doesn’t think that she can win without him.

Whatever the reason may be, the announcement alone is a headscratcher. She offers supporters a “Woman Card” (so they can “play it” whenever) and Hillary’s slogan is “I’m with her,” so why would she want Americans to be “with him”? Undoubtedly, Hillary knows that she needs her husband in order to win because he is more likable than her. Polling shows that Bill has a 56 percent favorability rating compared to Hillary’s 36 percent.

Many view the economy favorably under his presidency — an asset to her as she battles Donald Trump, whose message of bringing jobs back resonates with blue-collar voters. While she continues to dispute the notion that her husband would play a major role, she appears to be relying heavily upon him.

However, the news of Bill potentially assuming a powerful role in a Hillary presidency is ammo for Trump. The GOP presumptive nominee immediately said it was at terrible idea. “How can Crooked Hillary put her husband in charge of the economy when he was responsible for NAFTA, the worst economic deal in U.S. history?” he tweeted. Trump, whose message on trade has resonated with millions of Americans, sees this as an opening to continue to set himself apart from the Clintons.

Hillary is all about girl power, yet she would put a man in charge of one of the most pressing issues facing the country.

And Hillary has repeatedly said that she will continue Obama’s legacy — that her presidency would be his third term. For a candidate setting herself apart based solely upon her gender, you would think she would want to detach herself from these two men (and former presidents) so she could be a trailblazer — creating her own legacy and agenda.

But here’s the real kicker: It wasn’t even Hillary’s own idea to put her husband in charge of economic revitalization. It was Bill’s. “I have asked, actually, to be given the job of trying to help every part of the United States that has been left out and left behind economically,” Bill said at a campaign event on Tuesday. “And I think it is very, very important.”

If Hillary truly believes her husband knows how to do it better, then why should we put her in charge?
