The country has a new president of the United States — and a new international style icon in first lady Melania Trump.

Bringing back a tailored, classic style reminiscent of Jacqueline Kennedy, Melania Trump wore a Tiffany blue Ralph Lauren outfit consisting of a cashmere cropped jacket and mock turtleneck dress. She also wore matching over-the-elbow gloves and coordinating pumps, and carried a suede clutch. Her hair was in a sophisticated up-do.

Jackie Kennedy, back in 1961, also wore a powder-blue outfit on her husband’s Inauguration Day, complete with a double strand of pearls and a matching silk hat.

Melania Trump appeared composed and graceful at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C., earlier in the morning as the family entered the church for a private family prayer service. Then, smiling proudly at her husband as he took his oath of office on the steps of the Capitol, she exuded calm, class, and confidence.

President Trump sported a blue suit with a red tie and crisp white shirt, while Michelle Obama wore a muted look consisting of a patterned dark-red belted dress, a departure from her dressier styles on other official occasions.

Melania Trump also arrived with a gift that matched her dress, handing Michelle Obama what seemed to be a box from Tiffany’s as she greeted the outgoing first lady on the steps.

“This is a very strong start by the new FLOTUS. What’s not to love about this look?” commented British publication The Mirror.

Fashion devotees have wondered what Melania Trump would wear during her time in the White House. “It would be great if she wore a classic dress that any woman could slip into,” Lauren A. Rothman, author of “Style Bible: What to Wear to Work,” told USA Today, suggesting Mrs. Trump wear “items that can lend an executive presence.”

Melania Trump, of course, knows how to dress. In 2005, she was on the cover of Vogue in her Dior wedding dress, and she’s modeled for Harper’s Bazaar. A competent businesswoman, she also once sold her own line of jewelry and watches.
