After the tragic mass shooting at gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando, Florida, on June 12 that claimed 49 lives, the lion’s share of attention – both by liberal lawmakers and liberal media – has (very predictably) been on guns and gun rights in the U.S.

Instead of identifying and stopping the terrorists and their hateful networks who murder innocent people, the liberal focus is once again on strangling Americans’ constitutional rights, with the goal of having a more dependent, more complacent citizenry.

Tired old misinformation is again shopped around as the Orlando body count is used to drum up support for banning assault weapons. If we could only get guns out of every hand, gun grabbers posit, all the world would link arms and talk about their differences in a civilized manner.

While lawmakers debate the issue and weapons experts rally to educate the public on what an AR-15 actually is, one intrepid New York Daily News reporter decided to go out and try an AR-15 for himself.

Never mind that the weapon used in the Orlando shooting wasn’t an AR-15, but a Sig Sauer MCX — writer Gersh Kuntzman’s “reporting” encapsulates everything that is biased and untruthful about most media coverage of guns in America.

He begins: “One day after 49 people were killed in the Orlando shooting, I traveled to Philadelphia to better understand the firepower of military-style weapons and, hopefully, explain their appeal to gun lovers.”

“There is no humanly possible way it could be mistaken for an AR-15,” said one commenter. “This is not a mistake. This is a narrative.”

He continues, “I’ve shot pistols before, but never something like an AR-15. Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).”

Kuntzman then describes reactions that surprised experienced gun owners:

“The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don’t know what you’re doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD [post-traumatic stress disorder]. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.”

“There’s so much wrong with that farrago of nonsense, starting with the fact that the term ‘temporary PTSD’ is about as correct, both medically and politically, as the term ‘temporary AIDS,'” snorted conservativetribune.com about Gertzman’s claims.

Real gun experts are quick to point out the obvious through the fog of misinformation.

“The point is that it is not an AR-15 and no one, other than the media, ever claimed it was an AR-15,” one commenter posted to redstate.com. “In fact, there is no humanly possible way it could be mistaken for an AR-15. This is not a mistake. This is a narrative.”

Average citizens once again, meanwhile, cause gun sales to spike as they fear future legislation that would limit their ability to purchase firearms.

Hunter’s Warehouse owner Tom Engle told the FOX Business Network’s Stuart Varney that his online business has sold 30,000 AR-15s since June 12.

“Shootings don’t push up gun sales. It’s when the government starts talking about banning particular guns — and up go gun sales,” said Engle. “When people lose their right to buy a particular gun or a particular type of gun, they go after them and they want them then,” he added.

Obama once claimed many Americans “clung to their guns and their religion.” His administration shows a vast intolerance for the values of the millions he claims to serve.

Average citizens are correct in their concern over limits on their right to bear arms. On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court turned away a legal challenge to a Connecticut law that bans the type of rifle used in the Orlando attack, announcing it would not hear an appeal seeking to overturn the Nutmeg State’s ban on all semi-automatic rifles that resemble military weapons.

The Connecticut law, as well as a similar ban in New York, were upheld by lower courts and will remain in place, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Meanwhile, a video of one seven-year-old girl being properly supervised and trained to fire an AR-15 dispels Gertzman’s claims. Sometime a video is worth a thousand liberal media-generated words.

Obama once claimed many Americans “clung to their guns and their religion.”

We have seen his administration come after both, showing a vast intolerance for the values of millions he claims to serve. Americans will be wise to assume the pressure to limit gun ownership will not abate any time soon.
