“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:10). These words of scripture have remained a poignant comfort for persecuted Christians throughout history — and still ring true today. It seems that every day news reports confirm stories of Christians dying for their faith around the world.
The International Catholic-Jewish Liaison Committee reports that the persecution of Christians continues to increase every year and has reached staggering numbers in parts of the Middle East.
