The Rob Maness Show

Its the Jobs Stupid

It’s the economy stupid! The phrase coined by Louisiana’s Cajun democrat political consultant still applies! We can add “It’s the Jobs Stupid” when we watch what is happening in the US Senate with the Corona Virus aid package that needs to be passed right now to save thousands of small businesses from going under this week, and along with those businesses millions of jobs people! Both sides need to cut the partisan bull feces immediately and pass a bill focused on small business and workers, period. Get the goodies out the thing and debate them later dammit! Here are some of the Republican goodies in the bill that need to be fixed, a corporate loan program that doesn’t have strong controls on corporate executive pay and bonuses or prevent buy backs by those same executives. This, is a major issue, remember the TARP bailout and the big banks immediately gave bonuses and big severance packages to the same executives that caused the crisis? This bill should not allow corporate executives to conduct buybacks using funds from any loans from the bill. How does that work? Boeing stock is worth $100. Executives get stock options priced at $100. Boeing has a great year. Executives don't start a rainy-day fund. Executives use Boeing cash to buy back stock. Stock goes to $200. Executives double their money. That's the buyback scam folks and we need to prevent it from being done with tax dollars. Let’s move to the Democrat goodies list they want: 1. Corporate pay statistics by race and race statistics for all corporate boards at companies receiving assistance 2. Bailing out all current debt of postal service 3. Required early voting 4. Required same day voter registration 5. 10k bailout for student loans 6. For companies accepting assistance, 1/3 of board members must be chosen by workers 7. Provisions on official time for union collective bargaining 8. Full offset of airline emissions by 2025 9. Greenhouse gas statistics for individual flights 10. Retirement plans for community newspaper employees 11. $15 minimum wage at companies receiving assistance 12. Permanent paid leave at companies receiving assistance. None of these things are necessary to help small businesses and working people who will be losing millions of dollars and jobs in a few days. Rents and mortgages are due April 1st people. Take the goodies out if you can’t agree on these things and pass a bill focused solely on these two parts only. If you don’t, you’re failing the American people and should be ashamed of yourselves!
