The “Silence Breakers” went public with the sexual harassment allegations that stormed 2017 by force — and TIME awarded its “Person of the Year” award Wednesday.

After multiple women came forward with sexual harassment and assault allegations against disgraced Harvey Weinstein, the U.S. and the world at large watched as other women — and even some men — came forward with accusations that toppled powerful men throughout Hollywood, the media, and Congress.

Highlighting the #MeToo movement that “provided an umbrella of solidarity for millions of people to come forward with their stories” TIME honored the movement and the victims at large for their willingness to speak out.
