Although he may not be a fan of President Donald Trump’s, actor Bryan Cranston has a message for anyone who hopes the new president fails: ‘F**k you.”

The Hollywood Reporter noted in its interview with the Emmy Award-winning “Breaking Bad” actor released Monday that Cranston has “previously been particularly vocal” about his “opposition” to Trump. But when the outlet asked Cranston if his opinion has “changed throughout [Trump’s] first year in office,” the actor sang a different tune than most of his Hollywood peers.

“President Trump is not the person who I wanted to be in that office, and I’ve been very open about that. That being said, he is the president,” Cranston replied.

“If [Trump] fails, the country is in jeopardy,” he added. “It would be egotistical for anyone to say, ‘I hope he fails.’ To that person I would say, f**k you. Why would you want that? So you can be right?”

Cranston countered his anti-Trump peers by insisting, “I don’t want [Trump] to fail. I want him to succeed.” He even pledged to “support” the president whenever he offers “a good idea that helps the country” while calling the country to adhere to a higher standard of conduct.

“I don’t care if you’re a Republican and I’m a Democrat or whatever, I don’t care,” Cranston said. “We’ve got to get away from this idea that our country is political football, and someone with a different opinion is the enemy. Assume they love this country as much as you do, and there’s always room for improvement.”
