Miami-Dade County, Florida Mayor Carlos A. Giménez appeared on Fox News Tuesday to discuss the results his city has seen since making the decision to comply with federal immigration law in 2013.

The Trump Administration is no longer treating Miami as a sanctuary city, and Giménez says he feels the decision to simply follow the law has been “worth it.”

“I knew what we were doing was the right thing,” said the non-partisan mayor, who faced major backlash when he originally made the decision. “We went back to a policy that had been in effect since 2013. We tweaked it in 2013 and went back to what was pre-2013. It wasn’t a big change. It was really the right thing to do, and I think that the actions and the letters that we’ve got have proved it.”
