As more details continue to emerge about James T. Hodgkinson, the man who opened fire on a GOP congressional baseball practice Wednesday, the liberals he supported are speaking out.

Not only did Hodgkinson volunteer on Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, but he was very outspoken against President Trump on his social media.

Now, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is responding to reports that he was also a fan of hers — by basically claiming no connection to the shooter.

“He once submitted a letter to the editor [of his local paper] that cited statistics about political donations that he says he heard on this TV show because he said he watched this TV show,” said Maddow. “I should tell you we went through our correspondence today as soon as we got his name, as soon as we got that detail about him. We didn’t find evidence he ever sent anything to this show or tried to contact us at all.”

Watch Maddow dodge any connection in the clip above.
