Fake News? Social Media Users Accuse CNN of Staging Muslim Anti-ISIS Protest

Social media users are accusing CNN of staging a fake anti-terror protest this weekend after several people took video footage of representatives from the network helping Muslim women assemble a makeshift memorial and handing them signs. CNN anchor Becky Anderson is seen standing aside while all of this happens.

The network has denied organizing the protest, saying on its public relations Twitter feed that “police let demonstrators through the cordon to show their signs. CNN along with other media simply filmed them doing so.” Despite this explanation, many are calling the network “fake news” and accusing them of “scripting a narrative.”
