Almost 90-year-old Democratic congressman John Conyers struggled Tuesday to read a prepared statement calling for an investigation into General Michael Flynn, causing many to question his ability serve as a U.S. representative.

The 87-year-old constantly mixed up words and struggled with the pronunciation of names like “Putin” and “Flynn.” He has been serving in Congress since 1965.

The other Democrats at the press conference appeared to ignore Conyers’ struggles to finish sentences.

“The overdue resignation of General Finn [sic] last evening does not resolve this matter,” said Conyers. “I want to make that clear because I have been trying to, uh, get my chairman of the Judiciary Committee to hold a hearing immediately today, certainly not later than tomorrow. Uh.”
