During an appearance on “Late Night: Seth Meyers,” CNN’s Jake Tapper defended his network for broadcasting a report claiming President-Elect Donald Trump colluded with the Russian intelligence community — a report which could not be verified.
He then almost immediately bashed online news website BuzzFeed for publishing the unverified 35-page memo containing salacious allegations about the president-elect, saying it was “irresponsible” to “put those uncorroborated rumors out there.”
Since the report was released, the U.S. intelligence community has slammed the professionalism and veracity of the dossier, while CNN and BuzzFeed have faced backlash from the president-elect and the journalism community for promoting “fake news.”
