An explosive device went off at a New Jersey Marine Semper Fi 5k Saturday morning in the town of Seaside Heights as about 5,000 runners prepared to start the race.

“This is a deliberate thing happening,” said one woman who was interviewed by Fox News.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported due to the blast, according to Fox News, NBC New York and other outlets.

A source told New York local channel PIX 11 that three pipe bombs were left in the garbage can in the New Jersey shore town that exploded, but only one went off.

Officers are checking other garbage cans in the area, and one suspicious package is being investigated.

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security are investigating the situation as well, reports NBC New York.

The race was canceled after the explosion, and authorities are asking that locals remain home and away from the area of the blast.
