Who doesn’t dream of leaving the problems of the world behind and disappearing into a favorite film or TV show — even if it’s just for one evening?

A few restaurants have taken this dream quite literally. They’re combining food with pop culture to create memorable restaurant experiences for all tastes, including the geekiest.

Here’s a look at three uniquely themed restaurants from all over the world that you may want to add to your future travel plans.

1.) Blood & Wine in Edinburgh — featuring Dornish wine and pies straight from Westeros. The team behind The Pop Up Geeks specializes in transforming favorite TV shows into restaurants. Their shop in Edinburgh, Scotland, changes themes every couple of months, with fan favorites such as “Rick & Morty,” “Fallout,” or “The Walking Dead” on their record.

Now, just in time for the currently airing seventh season of the most popular series on television, fans of “Game of Thrones” (two characters pictured above: Tyrian Lannister and Sansa Stark) can enjoy a night in the setting of their favorite fantasy show. The so-called Blood & Wine is furnished with authentic props, such as replicas of Valyrian steel swords, house Stark infantry shields with the direwolf logo, and banners saying the show’s famous line, “Winter is coming” — creating a truly amazing (and slightly frightening) atmosphere.

The owners take pride in decorating the pub as close to the original as possible, down to the last horn mug.

As Linden Wilkinson, a bartender and cofounder of The Pop Up Geeks, told Buzzfeed, “We really do love ‘Game of Thrones’ and wanted to attract genuine fans like ourselves. We spent a lot of time on research, sourced the swords and armor from The Knight’s Vault, and our bone mugs are made by Abbeyhorn, the official suppliers [of] the TV series.”

The pub serves “only the finest that the Seven Kingdoms have to offer” on its menu, including the infamous lemon cake from Lady Sansa (a character from the show played by Sophie Turner); and Frey pie (without the rather morbid secret ingredient fans will know from the series). Wash that down with Dornish wine (made from Dornish cherries), black tar rum or Myrish fire (white wine, dragon chili and tomatoes) — and you have yourself a true “Game of Thrones” dining experience, minus the head rolling.

It is no coincidence The Pop Up Geeks opened “Blood & Wine” in Edinburgh: The man behind the books and the show, George R.R. Martin, has admitted that the famous and gruesome “Red Wedding” scene from “Thrones” was actually inspired by an historic event called “The Black Dinner,” which took place in 1440 at Edinburgh Castle.
