The Dominican Sisters of Mary of Ann Arbor, Michigan, are blowing up the Billboard classical and holiday music charts.

Their third and most recent album, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring: Christmas with the Dominican Sisters of Mary,” was released October 13, and the group — which performs very rarely in public, according to The Telegraph — sang for “The Ingraham Angle” and its lucky Fox News viewers on Thursday night.

Speaking about the beauty of music and its ability to touch listeners’ souls, Sister Joseph Andrew Bogdanowicz, O.P. Foundress, Dominican Sisters of Mary, told host Laura Ingraham, “Music is a beautiful outlet … The good, the true, the beautiful are like a magnet to our hearts. And so I think we have to respond. You just can’t … not.

“Jesu” is the sisters’ third album. Sister Joseph Andrew explained that its creation was in response to a wave of fan requests for more of their work — especially something that was holiday-themed. “Everyone really wanted a Christmas [album],” she said. “So we did it.”

Sister Peter Thomas, who said she grew up singing while doing chores around the house, told Ingraham, “[Music] is part of our prayer life. And this is just a bonus to get to sing together in a different setting.”

“Everything we sing is a prayer,” said Sister Joseph Andrew. “The sisters break into harmonies, and we just have fun.”

“Everything we sing is a prayer,” said Sister Joseph Andrew. “The sisters break into harmonies, and we just have fun.”

Sister Peter Thomas was quick to correct Ingraham when she jokingly asked if the nuns sing heavy metal when they’re off the clock. “Just these same songs,” she said. “But at a very upbeat pace.”

“Jesu,” which was recorded at Ann Arbor Motherhouse chapel, is available on the sisters’ website, SistersOfMary.org.

The angelic tracks by the sisters include “Christmas Proclamation,” “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “Away in a Manger,” Adeste Fideles, “Joy to the World,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” and more.
