You knew “SNL” would mock the first presidential debate of 2016. And they did it up big.

The show kicked off a new season Saturday night with an Alec Baldwin debut of his Trump impersonation — taking over for Darrell Hammond, who had been the “main” Trump in the past. Kate McKinnon, meanwhile, did her Hillary Clinton act in full glory.

“Listen, America. I get it. You hate me. You hate my voice. You hate my face.”

In an opening that ran more than nine minutes, out came Hillary, using a cane and coughing like crazy — a nod to the candidate’s real-life mysterious and myriad health issues. Then, just as it seemed she was about to collapse, she proceeded to do a somersault.

“I’m better than ever. Let’s do this!” she shouted.

Baldwin, his face in a ridiculous super scrunch, said hello and vowed, “I’m going to be so good tonight … so calm … so presidential.”

Answering a question about the economy, McKinnon spoofed Hillary’s smug love of her phrase, “trumped-up, trickle-down economics.”

Trump told Lester Holt (played by Michael Che), “Our jobs are fleeing this country. They’re going to Mexico … I will stop that. If Hillary knew how, she would have done it already. Period. End of story. I stayed calm, just like I promised,” he said, declaring the victory. “It. Is. Over. Goodnight, Hofstra.”

When Holt reminded him that the debate was still going on, Trump quickly responded, “My microphone is broken. She broke it. With Obama.”

Holt asked Clinton what she thought about that statement.

“I think I’m going to be president,” she responded. “I mean, this man is clearly unfit to be commander-in-chief.”

Replied Trump: “Wrong.”

“He is a bully,” Clinton said, to which Trump said: “Shut up.”

“He started the birther movement,” she said.

Trump: “You did.”

Later, talking about his good judgment, “Trump” called out “Hillary,” her hair and her mouth.

And brought up “blacks … killing each other,” Baldwin’s Trump said. “They’re all killing each other, just like I am killing this debate.”

After that, “Hillary” did her little shimmy, and just as the debate was wrapping up, she yelled out: “Alicia Machado!” — explaining that Machado was a “political prop” she almost forgot about, even though her campaign had a video ready to go about the long-ago beauty queen.

“Why are we talking about this woman?” “Trump” asked. “We should be talking about the important issues, like Rosie O’Donnell, and how she’s a fat loser and everyone agrees with me and I just wanted to bring that up in a presidential debate.”

In closing statements, the “SNL” Clinton said to America, “I get it. You hate me. You hate my voice. You hate my face. Well, here’s a tip. If you never want to see my face again, I swear to God I will lock myself in the Oval Office and not come out for four years. But if you don’t elect me, I will continue to run for president until the day I die — and I will never die!”

Baldwin has hosted “SNL” a record 16 times since 1990. This premiere episode was hosted by Margot Robbie with musical guest The Weeknd — but they were completely overshadowed by the political sketch.

On Oct. 8, “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda will host; Twenty One Pilots will be the musical guest.
