If viewers were expecting anything different of “Saturday Night Live” after all these months of the show’s nasty portrayals of people in the Trump administration (not to mention President Donald Trump himself), they were sadly mistaken.
As regular viewers know, the laziest episodes of the show are always the most political — and the newest installment drowned itself in political theater.
“This Is Us” star Sterling K. Brown hosted and starred as Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson — in a mock ad for “This Is U.S.”
The parody trailer tried to turn the Trump White House into a version of the melodramatic “This Is Us.”
Brown-as-Carson cried such things as, “All of it — all of it is wroooong.”
Sarah Sanders, Jared Kushner and Kellyanne Conway also came under fire, as each person was shown as either morally empty or conflicted about working for Trump.
“You’ll be laughing through tears, but without the laughing. So I guess just regular crying,” said a voiceover promoting the fake show.
Presidential sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump were portrayed on the “Weekend Update” segment — and the show did its best to depict two bright and accomplished young men as seemingly bumbling idiots who spoke inconvenient truths that hurt their father.

“Weekend Update” co-hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost also, as usual, derided Trump — going after his agreement the other day to meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un in the months ahead.
Jost said it was terrifying because it was between “the only two guys connected on Dennis Rodman’s LinkedIn page.”
Rather shockingly, the show’s cold open went after special counsel Robert Mueller, who has failed to find any substantial evidence of Russian collusion in the 2016 presidential election even after working on the case for months.
Kate McKinnon played Mueller in a “Bachelor”-style parody. McKinnon’s Mueller was breaking up with a cast member Cecily Strong — who wasn’t looking for love but instead information on Russian collusion.
“I’ve been struggling a little bit over the last few months just — like trying to figure this whole thing out and like, grasp everything, and the reality is that I don’t — I don’t think that I can give you everything that you want right now, you know, and I think you sense that,” McKinnon’s Mueller told Strong.

“So … what, you don’t have Trump on collusion?” Strong asked.
McKinnon’s Mueller answered, “I’m just trying to be honest and tell you that I can’t commit to collusion right now.”
