Robert Davi Is Helping Frank Sinatra Have a ‘Comeback’ with New Film

If Hollywood’s consistent output of remakes and reboots has you questioning your trip to the local multiplex, don’t worry. There’s something truly original on the way.

2BFilms recently acquired the rights to “Davi’s Way,” a documentary that follows a year in the life of actor and musician Robert Davi as he tries to recreate Frank Sinatra’s legendary “Main Event,” held at Madison Square Garden in 1974. Things don’t quite go according to plan though and Davi is forced to deal with various forks in his road in rather humorous and entertaining fashion.

The actor told LifeZette by phone that the final movie is less of a concert movie and more of “a cross between ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and ‘Spinal Tap.'”

The film debuts in theaters on July 13.

Davi is known mainly for his roles in such classic flicks as “Die Hard” and “The Goonies,” but this will not be the first time he’s shown off his impressive crooning pipes on film. “The Dukes,” a 2007 film he starred in, co-wrote and directed, follows a fictional doo-wop group that takes to a life of crime in order to pay its bills.

Davi consistently tours and covers Ol’ Blue Eyes and even performed at the Mar-a-Lago club this year to help celebrate President Donald Trump’s first year in office.

“It was a terrific event,” Davi told LifeZette in an exclusive interview not long ago.

While many Hollywood movies today are less and less original — and more and more reliant on special effects — there are some incredibly interesting smaller movies being produced today thanks to a widening of distribution options.

“Davi’s Way” is sure to be one of the more compelling films of the year, as it highlights not just one of the movie industry’s most recognizable faces, but also one of the few artists keeping the amazing music of people like Sinatra alive.
