“In the modern era, people are sick of MSM [the mainstream media] because it takes eight, nine, 10 hours and condenses it down to 11 minutes of manipulated garbage,” Alex Jones, the radio show host and filmmaker, said in an Infowars video leading up to Sunday night’s conversation between him and Megyn Kelly of NBC News.

In the video, Jones challenged Kelly to release the full unedited conversation between them. Jones said, “Prove you’re a real journalist and release, unedited, the third interview you did with me that night … those 100 minutes, so people can judge what I really said, not what MSM claimed I said.”

The Infowars founder and host threatened NBC and Kelly with the fact that he has footage of the entire interview and is willing to release it.

“I’m not looking to portray you as some kind of boogeyman,” Kelly said to Jones in a phone call leading up to their interview — which Jones recorded and released. “The craziest thing of all would be if some people who have this insane version of you in their heads came away saying, ‘You know what? I see the dad in him. I see the guy who loves those kids and is more complex than we have been led to believe.'”

Kelly said in the call that the story she was filming for her show was not going to be “investigative,” but rather a look at Jones as a father. In the 17-minute segment, Kelly did not mention Jones’ kids once. She spent the entire time demonizing him as well as President Trump’s relationship to the political commentator.

During the 17 minutes dedicated to Jones, he only had a fraction of actual airtime. The majority of the segment featured other people dissecting the man, such as political commentator Charlie Sykes. There was also Jones’ biographical information, which Kelly used to narrate and pass judgments on her subject — something she had promised not to do.

She said Jones made “baseless allegations” that are “dangerous” and “offensive.” One of those “baseless allegations,” according to Kelly, was the theory that the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting never happened.

Kelly said during her time with Jones, he “never completely disavowed” that position. This is troubling because during the already released phone call between Kelly and Jones, he said twice that he thought that the Sandy Hook shooting did occur.

It’s also obvious Kelly edited her interview again in the midst of controversy because a piece of the promo video showing Jones was different during the actual airing. Kelly cut off part of his answer. According to Jones, there were many other parts of his answers that she left on the cutting room floor as well. The difference between the promo video and the airing of the program prove his allegations may have some weight.

Kelly is creating a blueprint for how not to handle a successful news program. She already lobbed a controversially softball interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a piece of leaked footage from that interview, Kelly was seen telling Putin that the Russian leader brought “dignity” back to his country.

Now Kelly has been caught lying to another subject and then making some questionable allegations and edits during the broadcast.

If Jones actually does have the footage he claims of his time with Kelly and releases it — it could close the door very quickly on this new show of hers and perhaps threaten her future as well.
