The lead singer of the popular band Linkin Park died Thursday from a reported suicide at his home in Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles County. Chester Bennington was only 41.

The news unfortunately comes after the recent passing from suicide of other influential musicians, including Chris Cornell and Butch Trucks.

Linkin Park musician Mike Shinoda tweeted that he was “shocked and heartbroken” to hear of the passing of his colleague and friend. The band was scheduled to kickstart its next tour at the end of the month, with at least 32 dates planned.

Bennington may be gone, but his influence on the music industry will be felt for decades to come. Linkin Park was arguably one of the most influential nu-metal bands to come out of the early 2000s, and the group has had only continued success over the years.
