Fans have been asking for Tim Allen’s sitcom “Last Man Standing” to return to television ever since it was first canned last year.

The show was one of the top-rated comedies on its network and was headed into its seventh season — so the cancellation had been suspicious from the get-go.

Many people speculated that politics was a factor — the show has a conservative main character — and lead actor and producer Tim Allen never fully dismissed those theories.

Now it appears fans may be getting the wrong righted, as Allen himself teased on Twitter a “Last Man Standing” return.

Talks for a return of the series are reportedly occurring with Fox and are still in the early stages.

“Last Man Standing” followed the adventures of Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a father of three daughters who tries to hold onto his old-school values and machismo in an increasingly politically correct and “soft” world.

One of the likely reasons for renewed interest in the series is the recent smash success of “Roseanne,” a sitcom that similarly tackles political issues from a right-of-center perspective and follows a conservative protagonist.

Whatever the reason for, or the background of, its potential return, here’s hoping the early talks turn into something real: There are simply not enough shows like “Roseanne” and “Last Man Standing” on the air right now.
