Remember the “Friends” episode where Chandler Bing’s wise cracking got him in trouble with the Transportation Security Administration?

No? There’s a good reason you don’t.

NBC decided to snip a series of jokes tied to Matthew Perry’s character yukking it up about bombs at the airport. The episode in question was set to run roughly two weeks after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and the network erred on the side of caution regarding the gags. Snip, snip.

The excised jokes actually hit YouTube back in 2007, but only this week did the video go viral.

Watching the sequence today seems harmless enough. Frequent fliers know how seriously any bomb jokes are taken, and few are daffy enough to riff on dangerous materials while going through airport security.

But Chandler never let societal rules get in the way of a bad joke. And that’s why we loved him.
