“A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia” (1992). Very few would have the gall to sequelize a classic piece of cinema like “Lawrence of Arabia,” but filmmakers did so anyway in 1992. That bit of blind courage perhaps deserves some form of respect.

Though this was never billed as an “official” sequel, the play on the title and the timing of the release make clear that the goal here was to make money off the back of the beloved original. (This came out just after the original 1962 classic was rereleased to theaters.

The television movie unfortunately stars Ralph Fiennes, the talented actor behind far better work such as “Schindler’s List.” This was his first film role, though, so perhaps he should get a pass.

The movie followed T.E. Lawrence during the Paris Peace Conference after WWI. It’s boring and doesn’t even live up to the shadow of the original starring the late Peter O’Toole in the lead role.
