“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane is not feeling too loyal to his employer today.

The filmmaker has two shows that air on Fox — “Family Guy” and “The Orville” — but he still lashed out at the company over the weekend and said he was “embarrassed” to work for an organization associated with Fox News.

MacFarlane called Fox News “fringe s***” when he responded to a tweet from CNN host Brian Stelter that quoted Tucker Carlson of Fox News.

The quote from Carlson was: “If you’re looking to understand what’s actually happening in this country, always assume the opposite of whatever they’re telling you on the big news stations.”

MacFarlane responded on Twitter, “In other words, don’t think critically, don’t consult multiple news sources, and in general, don’t use your brain. Just blindly obey Fox News. This is fringe s***, and it’s business like this that makes me embarrassed to work for this company.”

Seth MacFarlane is an immensely talented individual. He has three television shows on the air — “Family Guy,” “The Orville,” “American Dad” — all of which he acts in and helps produce. On top of this, he juggles both a movie and a singing career. If he really wanted to, he could leave Fox and go where he wants, but clearly his “embarrassment” doesn’t extend to paychecks.

What’s also sad about MacFarlane’s comments is that he’s proven himself to be a critical thinker willing to extend his hand across party lines. He and the late Breitbart founder Andrew Breitbart once got along well enough on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” and “Family Guy” has included such conservative guests as Rush Limbaugh and James Woods in the past.

He should do what he’s done in the past: Reach out and have a conversation.

Instead of rushing to judgment and calling out his own employer, MacFarlane should do what he’s done in the past: Reach out and have a conversation with those who may have different views. Talk to Tucker Carlson. Talk to some of those Fox hosts he thinks are pushing “fringe s***.” A lot more would be accomplished by those conversations than his polarizing tweet.
