The “God’s Not Dead” franchise has defied the odds in Hollywood for years.

In an industry that still shows very little support for faith-based and faith-friendly stories — despite noted successful independent movies) — the “God’s Not Dead” films have attracted top talent and been big hits with audiences.

The first film was made for a mere $2 million and earned a whopping $60.8 million at the domestic box office. Stars like Kevin Sorbo, Dean Cain, and Melissa Joan Hart have made up the casts of the films.

Demand is still high for these stories of tested faith in the modern world, which is why “God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness” will open in theaters on March 30.

One of the driving forces behind these successful films is David A.R. White, a filmmaker who has long been at the forefront of the faith genre in Hollywood.

White has produced all three “God’s Not Dead” movies and starred as Reverend Dave in each one. In the third installment of the franchise (though you don’t need to see the first two films to jump into this one), Reverend Dave takes center stage. His own faith is tested when his church, located near a local university, is burned to the ground.

Fans of the franchise will find out plenty of new details about the reverend’s personal life and struggles as he faces a test of faith as never before. Newcomers will also be able to jump in with both feet as the new film tells a fresh story, one not totally reliant on the first two films. John Corbett and Tatum O’Neal are among the other cast members in the film.
