The new film from New York Times best-selling author, award-winning filmmaker, and conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza, “Death of a Nation: Can We Save America a Second Time?” is slated for release on August 3.

D’Souza exclusively shared a clip from the trailer for the film Thursday night on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

“The reason they keep using terms like ‘racism’ and ‘fascism’ and ‘white privilege’ and so on is … they can’t fault Trump for being anti-black. He’s not,” said D’Souza, responding to host Laura Ingraham’s remarks highlighting some of the recent and vitriolic statements political activist Linda Sarsour has made on immigration and border enforcement.

“They’re trying to get [President Trump] on this immigration issue as well as on the security issue, as being some kind of a racist,” he added.

He pointed out that the vast majority of immigrants in the United States are nonwhite, and that the line the president is drawing is not a racial one; rather, it’s the line between legal and illegal immigration.

Further, D’Souza said, casting Trump’s policies as fascist based on his commitment to cracking down on illegal immigration is absurd. The Jewish people whom Hitler’s Nazis exterminated in the Holocaust were not immigrants — they were longtime citizens of Germany.

“The comparison is insulting. It’s so ridiculous on so many levels,” Ingraham agreed.

D’Souza’s movie addresses the impact of the Left’s disturbing tactics — such as casting President Trump and all who support him as Nazi-like — in the face of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 election loss.

Gerald R. Molen, the Academy Award-winning producer of Steven Spielberg’s “Schindler’s List” and of “Jurassic Park,” produced the film.

D’Souza and Molen also teamed up in 2012 for “2016: Obama’s America,” a documentary that examined the potential impact on the country of a second term for President Barack Obama.

“Death of a Nation” highlights striking parallels between the presidencies of Abraham Lincoln and Donald Trump. It is based on two of D’Souza’s books, “The Big Lie” and “Death of a Nation.”

More than century ago, Democrats refused to accept the results of a free election, as a description of the film notes. The result was the targeted smearing of Lincoln, a war to defeat him — and ultimately, his assassination.

Fast-forward to today, and we’re seeing many similar reactions from the same party that, as per the movie description, “invented white supremacy,” “praised fascist dictators,” and appears to believe it’s justified in attempting to drive Trump from office, whatever that may take.

President Trump pardoned D’Souza on May 31 for violating campaign finance laws when he donated to a friend’s senatorial campaign. Some people have speculated that the unusually harsh sentence D’Souza received was politically motivated payback for his controversial films, books and speeches roundly criticizing Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

The timing for the release of “Death of a Nation” presents some potentially problematic optics, D’Souza acknowledged to The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month.

However, the not-yet-rated film has been underway for over a year, and the artwork — which prominently features a morphed image of Trump and Lincoln — was commissioned two months ago. D’Souza told the outlet Trump “had no inkling of the art or the theme of the movie when he pardoned me.”

“Death of a Nation” will be released on August 3. The full trailer will be available on D’Souza’s website prior to the release.
