He’s got the best gig in Hollywood and a place in pop culture lore. That world isn’t enough for actor Daniel Craig. The rugged star wants out of the James Bond franchise.

Craig told Time Out London that being Bond can be a “drag” for having to care so intensely about how his character looks. He was just getting started.

Craig, who has starred in four 007 films including next month’s “Spectre,” told the interviewer he would “rather break this glass and slash my wrists” than play Bond one more time.

“All I want to do is move on,” he said. “If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”

Craig’s acting career wasn’t exactly ablaze prior to donning 007’s tuxedo. His starring role in 2004’s “Layer Cake” flashed his gritty appeal, but it hardly broke box office records. His first few post-Bond movie choices flopped, including “The Golden Compass,” “The Invasion” and “Dream House.”

If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.

Attempts to spark a franchise to run alongside his Bond role also disintegrated when both “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and “Cowboys & Aliens” underwhelmed in 2011.

Craig did admit playing Bond allowed for more acting opportunities, but the saga’s time restrictions cut into those chances.
