In the wake of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, celebrities and artists have taken to social media to express sorrow and offer prayers to victims.
The shooting at a country music concert has left more than 50 dead and hundreds injured.
Those particularly sympathetic and shaken by the news are fellow country musicians.
Jake Owen, who performed right before Jason Aldean, was part of the Las Vegas country music festival and took to Twitter to offer prayers and to say he witnessed some of the tragic events.
Before those thoughts, Owen had tweeted when he first heard gunshots. He took the opportunity to ask for prayers and to say he loved his daughter.
Fellow country music stars who performed at the festival — such as Chris Young — expressed gratefulness to be alive. The musician said he was on the floor of a trailer behind the stage as the gunfire was going off.
Lee Brice, Dylan Scott, and others had also played the festival, but confirmed they were away and safe when the events took place.
Other country music stars have taken to social media in an attempt to band together and show support to first responders and victims.
Brad Paisley, who played the same music festival last year, followed up his tweet with an Instagram post in which he wrote, "I love country music, our fans, and our industry. We are a family. And we are hurting together today. God be with the victims. #prayforvegas."
Others in the country music industry have expressed similar shock.
Performer Jason Aldean had previously taken to Instagram after being rushed off the stage amid gunshots to call the vents "horrific" and to confirm that he and his crew were safe. He wrote, "Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still don't know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe. My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night."
