In the wake of sexual assault and harassment allegations against former entertainment industry titans like Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, actor and musician Corey Feldman has been one of the most outspoken voices against Hollywood’s decades-long tolerance of misbehavior and far more by powerful figures.

The former child star launched a crowdfunding campaign recently, aimed at creating a documentary that would name some of the sexual abusers he claims to know from his past. Feldman said he told police the names in the 1990s, but that nothing was done — and in a recent phone call he apparently reported the names again though that also went nowhere, as the statute of limitations had expired.

One name, Feldman claims, is attached to someone still very high up in the industry.

In a second appearance with Dr. Mehmet Oz on “The Dr. Oz Show,” Feldman named an alleged predator he says he came in contact with when he was a child actor.

He named Alphy Hoffman, the former owner of Alphy’s Soda Pop Club, as someone who allegedly abused him when he was underage.

Alphy’s Soda Pop Club was a club populated by many child stars in the ’80s. The club would offer free soda and host parent-free after-parties that offered a whole lot more.

Feldman recounted to Dr. Oz one instance of abuse at the hands of Hoffman. After a night of partying, Feldman went into a bedroom to get some rest at the club. “I don’t know what I was given at that time, but I know that I was really out of it,” Feldman said.

The “Goonies” star said Hoffman began assaulting him in ways similar to what he claims his first abuser, a man named John Grissom, had done; Feldman named that individual in his first appearance on Dr. Oz’s show.

Feldman said Hoffman “started doing the same things” to him as Grissom.

“I kind of woke up in the middle of it and I freaked out,” Feldman said.

He continued, “I was, like, ‘Oh my God, are they comparing notes?’ They’re treating it like … I’m being passed back and forth or something. It was really offensive and really shocking and jarring … I just remember being terrified.”

Feldman was joined on Dr. Oz’s show by former child star Jason Lively, the half-brother of “The Shallows” star Blake Lively.

Lively said he never saw sexual abuse first-hand at Alphy’s Soda Pop Club, but he saw enough to suggest it was a place where young men should not be. He said as a 15-year-old young man visiting the club, he was never violated — but he was more cautious than others about potential predators.

“I saw what I knew was a scene that I wouldn’t put myself in,” Lively said. He added he would catch Hoffman exiting bathrooms with underage boys and he saw older men coming and going from different rooms in the club.

“You can’t be in this industry and not be aware,” Lively said of abuse within Hollywood.

Feldman revealed in his interview that he even met his first abuser, Jon Grissom, at the soda club.

The interviews and revelations from Feldman in recent weeks have been horrifying — yet clearly these revelations have been needed in order for change to begin to happen in this industry.

It is incredibly sad it took this long for the stories of people like Feldman to be handled and viewed seriously — he’s long spoken about pedophilia and sexual abuse within Hollywood. But his naming of actual names on national television sets a good example for others who may be fearful to come forward with their own tales.

The real question now is who else Feldman might name. He has alleged that one individual is a powerful Hollywood player; and Feldman’s crowdfunding campaign is an attempt to give himself proper security and legal protection before naming people who might professionally and personally exact revenge in some way or another.
