Corden Crushes Viral Songs

Jimmy Fallon is the undisputed king of late night viral videos, famous for his lip-sync battles and hashtag skits.

But, let’s not forget the new kid in town, even if his show appears “Late Late” each weekday.

James Corden, the likable actor from “Begin Again, “One Chance” and “Into the Woods,” took over for Craig Ferguson earlier this year as host of CBS’s “The Late Late Show.” Corden provides a charming comic presence, but he’s making his name with some irresistible music video send-ups.

He recently paired with Alanis Morissette for an update on her hit song “Ironic,” refashioned to include some irony from 2015.

In honor of Corden’s musical mirth, here are five video snippets capturing him making some memorable, and occasionally hilarious, songs. It would be ironic if we didn’t include his latest, greatest hit:

Yes, Morissette’s “ironic” choices bent the meaning of the word back in 1995, but all was forgiven when she updated the song for a new generation.

The Grammys are known for pairing unlikely singers for the award’s annual telecast. Here, Corden does something similar with a karaoke-fueled sketch featuring Rod Stewart and A$AP Rocky.

Corden got in the “aca” spirit when “Pitch Perfect 2” hit theaters last summer. The film’s star, Anna Kendrick, squared off against Corden in an a cappella off. Warning: The affable Kendrick’s use of the “b” word gets a bit saucy.

Kristin Chenoweth isn’t a household name, but the pint-sized singer’s talents are a fine fit for Broadway. Here, she performs an oversized, and gently silly, duet with Corden.
