With today’s United Kingdom referendum on its membership in the European Union, stars of every ilk are putting out their viewpoints on the “Should I stay or should I go?” vote.

The only way to fix Europe is to “rebuild it from the ground up,” because the EU is “built on sand.” — Roger Daltrey

A last-minute poll by the Opinium firm in England showed that the “leave” the EU side of the campaign has taken the lead over the “remain” side — but only by a single percentage point, reports The Independent.

The outcome is too close to call. Will the “opiniums” of some well-known stars help sway anyone? They are bloody well trying.

Celebs ranging from Simon Cowell to Emma Watson have taken to Twitter or elsewhere to urge their side.

Cowell, along with David Beckham, Elton John, Daniel Craig, J.K. Rowling, Idris Elba, Keira Knightley, and many others, has announced plans to vote in favor of staying in the EU.

Soccer star Beckham wrote an essay on Instagram that noted, “We live in a vibrant and connected world where together as a people we are strong. For our children and their children, we should be facing the problems of the world together and not alone. For these reasons I am voting to temain.”

His wife, designer Victoria Beckham, also supports staying.

Rowling, ever the author, penned a 1,700-word essay on her website on behalf of remaining and managed to get in a dig as well at Donald Trump, who has expressed support for the U.K. to ditch the European Union.

The Leave campaign has played off xenophobia much as Trump’s campaign in the U.S. has, she says. “It is dishonorable to suggest, as many have, that Leavers are all racists and bigots. They aren’t, and it is shameful to suggest that they are. Nevertheless, it is equally nonsensical to pretend that racists and bigots aren’t flocking to the ‘Leave’ cause.”

Which basically seems to mean she’s calling Elizabeth Hurley, Michael Caine, John Cleese, and Roger Daltrey “racists and bigots.”

Rock legend Daltrey of The Who said he just didn’t want to get fooled again. In an essay in The Mirror as to why he’s voting to leave, he says he’s “not anti-European” — just “anti the present way we are being governed in Europe.”

He adds, “The whole system has been corrupted by political ego and massive government overreach … I want Great Britain to remain a sovereign nation, unless we are presented with an alternative democratic system, writ large and voted for.”

Daltrey pointed to David Cameron, saying the prime minister was unsuccessful in getting much-needed reforms accomplished in the country in recent years. In the 1970s, Daltrey said, “Britain was the center of the world. You got that because Britain was doing its own thing. It was independent. Not sure we’ll ever get that again when we’re ruled by bureaucrats in the European Union.”

In a more strongly worded interview with The Sun, Daltrey put it this way: “The only way we’re going to get the Europe that we want is to get rid of this bunch of f***ing useless w***ers that are running it.”

The only way to fix Europe is to “rebuild it from the ground up,” because the EU is “built on sand,” he added.

Meanwhile, across the pond, American stars were busy weighing in on Congress and the sit-in Wednesday by Democrats urging a vote on gun control. Kim Kardashian took a break from posting sexy selfies to get political.

We’re guessing her fans would rather see more of her corset shots than pictures of Congress.
