Joss Whedon may be the filmmaker behind such popular movies as “The Avengers” and television shows like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” — but his Twitter page has little to do with the stories he tells.
Instead, Whedon has used his tweets to do everything from suggest Donald Trump should be impeached — he’s not even in office yet — to wishing a brutal death on House Speaker Paul Ryan.
“Violence solves nothing. I want a rhino to f*** @SpeakerRyan to death with its horn because it’s FUNNY, not because he’s a #GOPmurderbro,” tweeted Whedon on Friday.
The country may be polarized — but now some liberal entertainers and public figures are using the situation as an opening to describe or imagine the deaths of politicians they happen to disagree with or dislike. Ridiculous.

Imagine, for a moment, a world in which a conservative spoke in such brutal fashion about a Democratic politician — and then bookended a tweet with #Democratmurderbro. A career would likely be lost — and the mainstream media would have a new scapegoat.
Whedon has remained relatively unscathed. His career is just fine — and the mainstream media couldn’t care less about a popular liberal filmmaker wishing death upon a conservative politician.
Let’s rewind the tape for a moment to a time when President Obama was not a failed leader limping his way out of office, but a charismatic senator who was set to take the White House by storm. Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh, seeing red flags in Obama’s ideology, said on his show, “I hope Obama fails.” The comment was part of a larger point the commentator was making about Obama’s cult-like status and how rampant liberalism could be dangerous for the country.
Limbaugh’s words made major headlines and were more than a bit controversial. He was the scapegoat for the media for weeks, and his comment is still mentioned today by outlets looking to paint conservatives as a vicious party in D.C. that refused to ever work with Obama.
Why is it Limbaugh’s words were heard ’round the world and deemed so wrong — yet Whedon gets a free pass? By ignoring the extreme nature of the rhetoric from those on the Left in regard to Republicans and Donald Trump, the mainstream media is helping to normalize the toxic nonsense that is spoken regularly by the likes of Whedon.

Paul Ryan’s death is not all that is on Whedon’s mind, either. On Saturday, the director tweeted about a potential impeachment of Donald Trump — something actor Charlie Sheen also mentioned in a recent interview with TMZ.
“I can’t believe we have to wait a whole week to start the impeachment process #maga,” tweeted Whedon. The director also mocked actress Nicole Kidman for her recent words about supporting the president-elect despite differences of opinion.
Whedon posted an image of the actress next to that of a doll with the caption: “Puppets for Trump.”

Whedon also tweeted, back in November: “This is simple: Trump cannot CANNOT be allowed a term in office. It’s not about 2018. It’s about RIGHT NOW.”
Clearly, preventing Trump from taking office and/or impeaching the next president has been on the director’s brain for quite some time.

Whedon’s words and their nowhere-to-be-found consequences don’t just display a prime example of hypocrisy in the media, but a dangerous mindset on the Left. No matter one’s feelings about Trump, Whedon’s words are not those of someone seeking healthy and vibrant political discourse. They are the childish and offensive words of someone throwing a fit because he didn’t get his way.
