It was only a matter of time, really, before Samantha Bee took the Kathy Griffin route and redacted her apology for her recent unacceptable conduct aimed at President Donald Trump and his daughter, Ivanka Trump.

Bee, of course, called Ivanka Trump — unforgivably and for no reason at all — a “feckless c***” during a rant on her TBS show “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.” She also suggested the first daughter should “put on something tight and low cut” to speak with her father about America’s immigration policy. The comedian claimed her rant was triggered by Ivanka’s posting of a beautiful photo of herself with her young son on Twitter last weekend.

With calls for her to be fired (at least initially), Bee apologized for her foul language — and TBS did not fire her. Now, however, the comedian’s tone is different.

On Thursday night, Bee actually accepted a Television Academy Honors award. The Emmy website said the “honor [given to Bee] recognizes programming that creates awareness, enlightens, educates and/or positively motivates audiences.” During her acceptance speech, however, Bee appeared to do the opposite — she instead defended her vulgar insults of the president and his family.

“We spent the day wrestling with the repercussions of one bad word, when we all should have spent the day incensed that as a nation we are wrenching children from their parents and treating people legally seeking asylum as criminals,” Bee declared at the award ceremony. “If we are OK with that then, really, who are we?”

Raymond Arroyo, a Fox News contributor, pointed out to host Laura Ingraham Friday night on “The Ingraham Angle”  that Bee’s response was not only inappropriate, but also flat-out inaccurate.

“It wasn’t [about] one word,” said Arroyo on the Fox News show. “It was also the context that Ivanka Trump should ‘tart up’ to get her father’s attention. That was never addressed [by Bee] at all.”

Ingraham agreed, adding that Bee has attacked her in the past.

“She didn’t like the fact that Ivanka Trump was holding up her infant son. That was an affront to Samantha Bee. She has trashed me for wearing my cross, which works against vampires,” said Ingraham, showing her cross necklace to the audience. “Hi, Samantha!”

Bee is only one of many leftists who have been in hot water in recent days for vulgar attacks against conservatives. Ultimately, though, people like her, Joy Reid, Kathy Griffin, Joy Behar, Keith Olbermann, Stephen Colbert, and Bill Maher can seemingly do whatever they want and not lose their work or livelihood — because their networks agree, openly or not, with their political ideals.

There’s certainly a double standard here, especially when one considers Roseanne Barr was fired promptly last Wednesday for a tweet.

As for Bee, she made clear she does not care that she called Ivanka Trump the most offensive word ever to insult a woman. All Bee ever cared about was keeping her job; and when she realized TBS wouldn’t fire her, she went right back to being nasty.

Bee’s apology redaction should tell Americans all they need to know about her character and integrity — or lack thereof.

Personal attacks are not the accepted method of public discourse in the United States, so Bee’s apology redaction should tell Americans all they need to know about her character and integrity — or lack thereof.

Interesting end note, reported on Saturday: “Full Frontal” has been denied press credentials for the Western Conservative Summit, to be held June 8-9 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, according to The Denver Post. The summit is the largest conservative gathering outside of Washington, D.C.

Said Jeff Hunt, director of the Centennial Institute and chairman of the Western Conservative Summit, “Conservatives are tired of being mistreated by the liberal media. Shows like ‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’ are not intent on reporting but [on] bullying and shaming conservatives.”
