Roseanne Barr recently received praise from an unexpected source: the aggressive anti-Trumper Rosie O’Donnell.

Barr was chosen as one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People — and O’Donnell wrote some pretty positive things about the fellow comedian, despite the deep political differences between them.

O’Donnell praised Barr’s debut in 1985 on “The Tonight Show” and her long (and continued) run of success with “Roseanne.”

O’Donnell said Barr is “using her art to address relevant social issues, just as she has always done.”

What’s so surprising about O’Donnell’s praise of Barr isn’t just that they disagree about the sitting president and his policies — but more that Rosie O’Donnell has been so aggressive and outspoken about President Donald Trump and his supporters.

She, of course, could not avoid speaking about Trump in her writings about Barr.

“There has been much said about her love of the current president. Although I don’t understand it in any way, I love her still. I have seen the indefensible tweets from her macadamia-nut farm — and I forgive her,” wrote O’Donnell.

Despite O’Donnell’s assumption that Barr needed “forgiveness” for her support of Trump, the comedian still thanked O’Donnell on Twitter for her words.

“Roseanne” has been a massive success since its recent return to television. A big reason for the show’s success is that it has no political agenda — and it depicts Trump-supporting characters interacting positively with Trump critics.

Normally, O’Donnell doesn’t have enough bad things to say about this president and all those who voted for him. The fact that she went out of her way to praise Barr is proof the new and improved show and the comedian herself are having a positive cultural impact. Let’s hope it continues.
