Hollywood’s reaction to the recent Florida high school shooting has been completely predictable, as many are using the event to make weak points about gun control that simply don’t hold up in the real world.

Yet one celebrity bucked Hollywood’s leftist trend and offered an interesting suggestion to prevent future school shootings.

“Again, the shooter was stopped by people with firearms. Schools need armed security and volunteer staff members with CCW,” wrote actor Adam Baldwin, referring to the carrying of concealed weapons.

Baldwin has starred in films including  “Full Metal Jacket” and such television shows as “Chuck” and “The Last Ship.”

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School had two armed resource officers assigned to it, but staff and teachers were still unarmed and arguably unprepared for a gunman to march into their school.

Baldwin later replied to a tweet from CNN quoting a Florida teacher who said, “The frustration is that we did everything that we were supposed to do … and still, to have so many casualties … I feel today like our government, our country, has failed us and failed our kids and didn’t keep us safe.”

Baldwin’s response?

“When seconds count, government is only minutes away.”

It’s a cold statement, but one that is completely true. Every second counts in these situations — which is why people argue so vigorously against celebrities who are for disarming good and lawful citizens.
