Virginia Republican Rep. Dave Brat said Wednesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show” that the mainstream media “has been wrong on everything” during President Donald Trump’s first year in the Oval Office.

“The mainstream media has been wrong on everything,” Brat said. “What did they say? As soon as President Donald Trump is elected, the stock market’s going to crash. Nope, totally wrong. All record highs.”

“They said you can’t get above 2 percent growth, right … the new normal would be pathetic like Europe, right? Just, you know, take your place in the global system and grin and bear it. Nope. We’re exceptional,” Brat continued. “We don’t accept that for Americans.”

A member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, Brat admitted being nervous about how the Senate would handle the joint conference tax reform bill. But he told host Laura Ingraham the Senate “did get some things right” and pulled off a major victory for the American people.

“It’s all good news,” Brat said. “Once the American people and businesses feel positive and see hope, and once the kids see hope out there in their future, great things happen. And that’s what makes this country so great.”

Brat also praised Trump for championing the sweeping tax system overhaul and leading the Republican Party along a “rocky road” filled with obstacles from all sides.

“It feels bumpy at times, but President Trump has stuck to it,” Brat said. “He is changing this, this and this, and it is producing tremendous results already.”

The Virginia congressman blasted congressional Democrats for obstructing Trump and his “Make America Great Again” agenda every step of the way, as the mainstream media misrepresented the president’s proposals.

Although Trump and the Republican Party notched a major legislative victory with Wednesday’s tax reform passage, Brat warned that the Left and the “resist movement” will ramp up their efforts to derail progress.

“The Left has hijacked K-12, higher education, and it’s just this rage against the machine right now that’s going on across the country,” Brat said.

“I want to just urge everyone: Keep the faith, but take action this year. The Left is taking action,” Brat added. “We have jobs and a positive, bright future to offer [the American people], and the Left cannot match that offer. And so, I just urge everybody — take action.”
