Donald Trump unveiled a detailed ethics reform plan to help “drain the swamp in Washington, D.C.” and redeem the corrupt political arena during a rally Monday evening in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The GOP nominee took the stage at the KI Convention Center to discuss his plan to “end government corruption” and the “economic stagnation” the United States currently faces. Trump used the rally, which at times turned raucous as a smattering of protesters caused continual disruptions, to hammer Hillary Clinton, the media, and the political Establishment.

“If we let the Clinton Cartel run this government, history will record that 2017 was the year America lost its independence.”

“If we let the Clinton Cartel run this government, history will record that 2017 was the year America lost its independence,” Trump told the rally attendees. “We will not let that happen. It is time to drain the swamp in Washington, D.C.”

Trump’s plan for ethics reform included five main tenets: reinstating the five-year ban on all executive branch officials who lobby the government after they leave service; instituting a five-year lobbying ban for former members of Congress and their staff; expanding the definition of a lobbyist to close loopholes; issuing a lifetime ban for senior executive branch officials against lobbying for foreign governments; and asking Congress to pass campaign finance reform that prevents foreign lobbyists from influencing American elections through fundraising.

“When Bill Clinton came into office, he signed an executive order saying if you work for the White House or a federal agency, you can’t lobby the government for five years after you leave,” Trump said. “But then, President Clinton did what the Clintons always do — he rigged the system on his way out. Clinton lifted the executive order so the Clintons and their cronies like John Podesta could start raking in cash.”

The GOP nominee proceeded to bash Hillary Clinton and her political accomplices for their corruption, particularly capitalizing on the rapid-fire sequence of WikiLeaks dumps implicating Clinton and her staff in shady dealings.

Railing against the “rigged election” that seeks to “poison the minds of the American voters,” Trump called the media “an extension of the Clinton campaign.” Trump also pointed to a recent report from the Center for Public Integrity that showed that 96 percent of journalists who donated to political candidates this election season donated to Clinton.

“Clinton cronies have sacrificed your security, your family’s safety, and your country’s safety as though it meant nothing at all. This is magnitudes worse than Watergate. And we’re going to put an end to it on Nov. 8,” Trump said. “That is why I am proposing a package of ethics reforms to make our government honest once again.”

“On Nov. 8, the arrogance of Washington, D.C., will come face-to-face with the righteous verdict of the American voter,” Trump continued. “I’m going to fight for every person in this country who believes government should serve the people — not the donors … Once again, we are going to have a government of, by, and for the people.”
