At least 17 attendees at Donald Trump’s rally in Bangor, Maine, returned to their vehicles to discover that they had been vandalized during the Saturday event.

After the GOP nominee finished speaking at the rally at the Cross Insurance Center, the victimized attendees were dismayed to find their vehicles sporting streaks of white spray paint.

“Why can’t they do a peaceful protest instead of painting cars, all of this, to make their statement?”

“I do hope that they can find out who did this or at least the person who did this can come to some kind of personal conclusion that this isn’t how you change minds … because I think the only thing that this will have is a reaffirming effect,” University of Maine student Rye Powell told the Bangor Daily News.

Powell, who had driven a Toyota Prius to the rally, said that he is not even a Trump supporter and is leaning toward voting for Hillary Clinton. Regardless, Powell said that he often attends a variety of political events featuring speakers from both sides of the aisle.

Paul Foster, a painter who supports Trump, was irked to find that his van had been spray painted during the rally, which he described as an event that “couldn’t have been more peaceful.”

“Why can’t they do a peaceful protest instead of painting cars, all of this, to make their statement?” Foster told the Bangor Daily News.

But peaceful protesting was not what the vandals were after.

“An investigation is underway, and Bangor Police are seeking witnesses and reviewing video in order to find those responsible,” the Bangor Police Department said in a press release.

During the rally itself, Trump doubled down on his attacks against Clinton, the corruption of the Washington Establishment, and his plans to curb illegal immigration, bolster national security, and return the country to economic prosperity.

“He doesn’t lie, he doesn’t live in a land of rainbows and cotton candy, he’s straightforward,” Trump supporter and rally attendee Jennifer Bryant told CentralMaine.com. “He’s not going to sit around and sing, ‘Kumbaya.’ He’s going to get off his ass and do something.”
