The hyper-inflated media controversy surrounding the public spat between Donald Trump and Khizr Khan — father of slain soldier Capt. Humayun Khan — obfuscates the fact that under a President Trump far fewer American soldiers would be sent to die needlessly in the Middle East.

Perhaps that’s what the Democratic Party wants.

Trump has proposed policies that would see fewer U.S. soldiers die in Muslim countries abroad and fewer U.S. civilians die at the hands of radicalized Muslims at home.

“Captain Khan gave his life to defend our country in the global War on Terror,” Trump’s running mate, Gov. Mike Pence, said in a statement released Sunday night. “Due to the disastrous decisions of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, a once-stable Middle East has now been overrun by ISIS. This must not stand,” Pence added.

Trump was an opponent of the tragically shortsighted war in Iraq from the start. Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, was an enthusiastic supporter of that war. This didn’t seem important to Mr. Khan, who claimed that “if it was up to Donald Trump, he never would have been in America.”

But the truth is that were it up to Donald Trump, Humayan Khan most likely wouldn’t have died in the Iraqi desert thousands of miles from home.

Moreover, Trump has made it clear repeatedly that he is not suggesting a blanket ban on all Muslim immigration — something logistically impossible — but that immigrants from countries that are hotbeds of terrorist activity should be subjected to closer scrutiny.

“By suspending immigration from countries that have been compromised by terrorism, rebuilding our military, defeating ISIS at its source and projecting strength on the global stage, we will reduce the likelihood that other American families will face the enduring heartbreak of the Khan family,” Pence’s statement continued.

Trump has proposed policies that would see fewer U.S. soldiers die in Muslim countries abroad and fewer U.S. civilians die at the hands of radicalized Muslims at home.

But rather than argue against those sensible policies — and in the process alienate everyone in America who isn’t a suicidal multiculturalist or a staff writer at the National Review— it is far easier for the Democrats to send out the father of a dead Muslim-American soldier to cry “racism” at the Democratic National Convention.

This manipulative move of having a grief-stricken father of a fallen Muslim soldier attack Trump for policies he isn’t advocating, and attack as racist Trump’s common sense underscores the Left’s rank hypocrisy when it comes to “playing politics.” The Republican National Convention also featured the parent of an American who died in a Middle East adventure supported by Hillary Clinton. But when Pat Smith, mother of one of the Benghazi victims, spoke, Democrats and liberals called it crass opportunism.

“RNC manipulates the pain of a grieving mother for partisan gain,” read the headline of an MSNBC articleby Steve Benen. “Imagine if the Democratic National Convention invited several people, including grieving family members, to spread obvious falsehoods and conspiracy theories about the Republican administrations?” wrote Benen.

“Democrats would be seen as fanatics lacking in the seriousness of purpose necessary to govern,” he continued. Well, now we don’t have to imagine if the DNC invited grieving family members to spread vicious falsehoods about Republicans.

But while Benen was quick to attack Republicans for giving platform to the grieving mom of a serviceman who actually died as a direct result of decisions Clinton made, he had nothing but praise for the Democrats’ obvious and manipulative stunt. “Khizr Khan’s words won’t soon be forgotten,” reads the title of Benen’s article on Khan.

The Democrats could not care less about Capt. Humayan Khan’s sacrifice — they care only that in his father they have found a valuable spokesperson to further their multicultural agenda.

“What he cites in the name of Islam, and all that — that is not Islam at all!” Khan, apparently the Clinton campaign’s national taqiyya coordinator, claimed Sunday on CNN. “I wish he would have, somebody would have put something in his head that these are terrorists, these are criminals, these folks have nothing to do with Islam.”

Mr. Khan and the Democrats would have the country believe that radical Islamic terrorists — who are inspired by Mohammed to wage a war of conquest and devastation, and are able to find justification for their horrific acts in the Quran and Hadith, and march and fight under the black flag of Islam, and whose professed goal is to construct a caliphate — have nothing to do with Islam.

To Donald Trump, Capt. Humayan Khan’s death was a tragedy that should never have happened in the first place. To Hillary Clinton and the Democrats it is a political tool to be exploited in order to further their agenda — an agenda that will inevitably result in more needless death, whether on a foreign field or in a domestic nightclub.
