Trump Calls for Justice Dept. to ‘Finally Act’ Against Huma Abedin

President Donald Trump ripped Huma Abedin in an early Tuesday tweet for “disregarding basic security protocols” while serving as Hillary Clinton’s personal aide at Foggy Bottom — and he urged the Justice Department to “finally act.”

Clinton’s deputy chief of staff at the State Department forwarded sensitive emails containing government passwords to her personal Yahoo email address, as The Daily Caller reported Monday.

Yahoo suffered a systemwide breach that affected every account in 2013. Trump argued the Justice Department consistently exhibited a glaring double standard when it came to punishing the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee and her aides.

“Crooked Hillary Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin, has been accused of disregarding basic security protocols. She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents,” Trump tweeted. “Remember sailors pictures on submarine? Jail! Deep State Justice Dept must finally act? Also on Comey & others.”

Trump referred to former Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Kristian Saucier and his imprisonment after he took photos inside a nuclear submarine. Saucier’s supporters complained he received a prison sentence while Clinton escaped legal repercussions for her mishandling of classified information by using a private email server.

The president also directed his ire at former FBI Director James Comey. Trump fired Comey in May 2017, and the president’s tweet may also allude to Comey’s admission that he leaked personal FBI memos to a friend to encourage the creation of a special counsel to investigate Russia’s 2016 U.S. presidential election interference.

Comey testified before Congress in May 2017 that Abedin also forwarded thousands of emails — including some containing classified information — to her husband, disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.).

Judicial Watch, a conservative nonprofit government watchdog, said in late December that Abedin’s practice of forwarding sensitive emails to Weiner’s computer constituted “obvious violations of law.”

Judicial Watch President Tom Litton said Abedin’s and Clinton’s behavior deserved a “serious investigation” from the Justice Department.
