President Donald Trump fired back at the special-counsel investigation hanging over his administration and said, in a series of tweets Sunday morning, that his “America First” agenda is on track, despite the distraction caused by the “witch hunt.”

In claiming progress on key agenda items, Trump pointed to executive orders he’s signed, jobs being created, and economic optimism resulting from his elimination of certain excessive regulations.

“The MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN agenda is doing very well despite the distraction of the Witch Hunt. Many new jobs, high business enthusiasm … massive regulation cuts, 36 new legislative bills signed, great new S.C. Justice, and Infrastructure, Healthcare and Tax Cuts in works!” Trump tweeted.

Trump has promoted the successful nomination and confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch during his first 100 days in office as one of his administration’s most important accomplishments. Despite the ongoing Democratic obstruction in Congress, the president painted the House’s approval of a health care reform bill and efforts to move forward on his major legislative proposals as victories in their own right.

The president pointed to the results of a Friday Rasmussen Poll showing that his job approval rating may not be suffering despite the ongoing Russian collusion hysteria.

“The new Rasmussen Poll, one of the most accurate in the 2016 Election, just out with a Trump 50% Approval Rating. That’s higher than O’s #’s!” Trump tweeted.

The Rasmussen Report’s Daily Presidential Tracking poll released Friday indicated 50 percent of likely U.S. voters approve of Trump’s performance as president. Most other recent polls have placed Trump squarely in the 40s, and some showed his job approval even having dipped into the 30s.

The highest Trump has reached in the Rasmussen poll was 59 percent on Jan. 26 — just six days into his administration. The lowest he’d ever reached was 42 percent on April 3. Of the 50 percent who approved of Trump’s presidential performance, 31 percent of respondents said they “strongly approve.”

These numbers come after Trump has spent the past couple of weeks specifically focusing his messaging on infrastructure improvements and how to boost the economy and encourage further job creation. The president has also met with Americans across the country during the past several days who have personally suffered at the hands of Obamacare, using the meetings to pressure the Senate to move quickly while shaming the “obstructionist” Democrats.

“This is good news for Trump,” Katie Frates of Olympic Media said of the Rasmussen Poll Sunday on “Fox News.” “No one’s covering this — you have to wonder why.”
